Birdie’s Bakestand is a neighborhood home bakery and lemonade stand.

The kids wanted to open a neighborhood lemonade stand. The mom wanted to make delicious treats and sugar cookie art. So we combined them into one delicious idea for a bakestand. We hand-built a stand out of a worktable that we had on our back porch. We added on wooden boards and a big sign, made a canopy from lemon yellow striped fabric- and the bakestand was born!

Birdie’s Bakestand is named after a sweet friend that recently passed away. We used to visit together every week, and she would tell of the adventures of owning a family restaurant. She loved to gather with others. One of the ways she loved those in her community was to cook and serve delicious food and desserts to her family, neighbors, and friends. It meant a lot to her to care for them in this way. She was unable to cook for others by the time she came into my life, but she inspired me to share the love in my community through baking.
